INDIVIDUAL SPONSORSHIP

As I prep for my online radio interview with Bernadine Feagins, I came across a fascinating event called Red Nose Day.  The event's charity is supported by J.K Rowling.  As I go from link to link looking for the event  sponsors I wondered where are the corporate sponsors??  Shortly after I realized that the event focuses on individual sponsorship rather than corporate sponsorship.  Getting an individual to sponsor your event can save lots of research time.  More or likely the person you are seeking sponsorship from may be a family member, live in your community, work with you, is in your network, or come through referral.  This person may already be familiar with your event so you don't have to explain all of the details about your event and event's audience or have to write a sponsorship proposal.  Individuals normally sponsor events that come from a reputable source or that they too are passionate about.  I'm sure the days are coming when we will see corporate sponsors logos at one or many of Red Nose Day's national or international upcoming event; but for now this organization sure knows how to use 'individual sponsorship' to benefit their mission.  Here is a funny  video clip I got from them, enjoy!
