4 Reasons Sponsorship Is Important
4. Sponsors give back to communities. Buying decisions become easier when a sponsor name or logo is attached to an event I believe in. I feel as though I am contributing to that event's cause by shopping with that sponsor, and guess what, I am!
3. It is built on helping each other - trading value for value. Sponsor cover the cost for things that the event needs (example: venue, performers, decorations) in exchange for receiving various benefits (example: exposure to a pure demographic or cross culture).
While some may view sponsorship as begging the sponsor for mercy :-) , others are utilizing sponsorship as a method to achieve their goals. Think about it this way, your event may be the solution that a sponsor needs to a problem they have. It can be the answer that could introduce their product to an audience overseas or connect them with your local and growing group. By not asking for sponsorship you may be sitting on a solution that can help a sponsor and yourself.
I've heard the terms advertisement, sponsorship, and endorsement used interchangeably to mean the same thing. However I find the roles to be different. Sponsorship does not target a mass audience who may share 1 thing in common (ie, music, sport) or does not attach their brand to an image (celebrity).
It is very crucial that you give back to companies that sponsor your events, groups, benefits, communities, and other events you and your loves ones care about. Your support motivates companies to continue becoming sponsors and let them know that you see them. Although I believe all should, remember companies don't have to become sponsors. Here are 5 ways you can support sponsors.
5. Make donations to nonprofit organizations the sponsors sponsor.
4. Join sponsors groups and websites.
3. Attend events "sponsored by" the sponsors.
